This original painting was the first piece of the ‘Wonder’ collection, one of my most cherished collections, and perhaps also the most vulnerable. It was created during my maternity leave with my youngest son, a period of slowing down, quieting, exploring, and countless moments of wonder.
Creating art helps me be present and slow down my mind. This creates space for wonder. When I’m in a rush, there’s less room for curiosity, and I tend to seek quick answers and solutions. With this painting, I was curious about whether I could combine semi-realistic painting with abstract work, and I totally loved it. It was the start of the Wonder collection.
It serves as a reminder for slow thoughts and the power of slow living.
