This painting, titled ‘take a step back to see it,’ is the final piece of my recently completed collection. In the creative process, I was sometimes carried away by my perfectionism. With this specific work, I had to literally take a step back so I could view it with fresh eyes and complete it.
This painting fits perfectly into the new collection dedicated to the theme of wonder. Sometimes, it’s essential to slow down and look at the beauty around us with a fresh perspective.
When you look at the entire collection, you’ll notice that I’ve used both semi-realistic painting techniques and abstract work. By using a different medium, namely canvas instead of paper, and employing various painting techniques, a new and beautiful image emerges.
This painting is a part of the ‘Wonder’ collection, one of my most cherished collections and perhaps the most vulnerable. It was created during my maternity leave with my youngest son, a period of slowing down, quiet contemplation, exploration, and countless moments of wonder.
The original watercolor painting was crafted using self-made watercolors from natural earth pigments and is captured on a cotton canvas measuring 60 x 80 cm. It comes framed in a plain wooden frame.
